Set to open in September, Chertsey High School will provide first-class facilities for 900 pupils aged 11-16 years old. Built on the former Runnymede Centre site the school is being funded by the Department for Education and overseen by the Bourne Education Trust.

The school has been carefully designed to inspire creativity and once complete, will comprise of 41 classrooms, as well as a multi-use games area, an external amphitheatre, a dance studio, sports hall, main hall and a dining hall, covering an area of 72,333ft²

Zelia Munnik, Headteacher of Chertsey High School said: “We’ve been watching the progress of our new building day by day in anticipation and are delighted to have a reached such a key milestone in the project. We cannot wait to open the doors to our new building in September and are looking forward to the next part of this exciting journey”.

Work on site began in March 2018 and throughout the project, Kier has engaged with the school and local community, providing regular updates on the projects. The school has a Virtual World Plaque™ installed, an interactive marker that allows visitors and passers-by information about the project. The plaque was installed as part of the Shaping Your World™ campaign that aims to inspire 11-15-year-olds to consider careers in the built environment.
