Epsom & Ewell High School continues to be a 'Good' school following recent Ofsted visit

Bourne Education Trust is delighted to announce that Epsom and Ewell High School continues to be a ‘Good’ school following its recent two day inspection by Ofsted.

Following their visit, inspectors commended teachers, pupils, and the school's leadership, noting the school to be: ‘Innovative, creative and highly aspirational’ with ‘high ambitions for all’ and ‘a strong sense community’.

Leaders at all levels were found to be ‘passionate, enthusiastic and determined’ and teachers ‘strong in their subject knowledge, thoughtful and giving of their time’. Inspectors were impressed by the positive contribution pupils made to school life and furthermore that they ‘felt happy and safe’, enjoyed ‘very good relationships with their teachers’ and were ‘proud of their school and enthusiastic to learn’.

Further remarks from the team praised the excellent practices and knowledgeable leadership seen across the school, particularly within literacy, curriculum planning, assessment, KS5, careers, safeguarding.

Trust CEO, Alex Russell said: ‘This is a huge achievement for the team at Epsom and Ewell High School. They are pioneering in their approach and work tirelessly to ensure that their students receive a first-class education. The school and all its staff should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and we can only look forward to working with them on the next steps of their journey.’

James Newman, Headteacher said: 'We are extremely proud that our innovative approaches to education have been recognised by Ofsted and that inspectors highlighted the school’s relentless drive for excellence. The sense of community and togetherness shone through and the report reflects the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.'
