Back to newsPhilip Southcote School satellite at Chertsey High School
30th Mar 2021With Surrey’s maintained specialist provision full, the county is looking to establish special school satellites within mainstream provision to add much needed capacity to its SEND provision. We are therefore delighted to announce that we are currently in the middle of a consultation process to open a satellite with Philip Southcote School in Chertsey High School for up 20 places in September 2021. The satellite would be phased in over 5 years.
Our ambitious partnership would create a specialist learning provision that provides all the facilities and curriculum choice of a mainstream setting whilst replicating specialist SEND LAN provision; offering young people with Learning and Additional Needs the opportunity to be educated in their local community and be highly aspirational. Philip Southcote hope to be able offer a unique learning environment for the most able LAN pupils who would benefit from a bespoke and targeted provision across a mainstream setting.
Following consultation this would be an incredibly exciting moment for both schools, and one of the first satellite provisions in Surrey.
