17th Mar 2020BET school Headteachers have undertaken detailed assessments of the extent to which their schools can remain open safely, taking into account current government advice and staff absence due to showing coronavirus symptoms, sharing a household with someone showing symptoms or being in a vulnerable group as a result of pregnancy or having underlying health issues.
In those schools with high staff absence, Headteachers will be making the decision to open the school to selected year groups only, prioritising those students sitting external examinations or SATS later in the year. Each school will publish its own arrangements on its website, along with information about the work students should undertake if unable to attend school.
Schools with sufficient staff to remain open will keep parents and carers regularly updated through their school websites and by email or text message as the situation inevitably changes. Staff absences are only likely to increase, so we ask parents and carers to check regularly for communications from their child’s school.
This is a very challenging time for the whole community and are thoughts are with those directly impacted by this global pandemic.
