BET Hosts Second Annual Reading Conference:

2nd Oct 2024

Last Friday saw our second annual BET Reads conference, a day dedicated to enhancing reading leadership and teaching across the Trust. The event featured Christopher Such, renowned author of 'The Art and Science of Teaching Primary Reading', as the keynote speaker, setting the stage for an inspiring day of professional development.

Following Such's keynote address, 'What Every Teacher Needs to Know About Reading', highlighting the fundamental principles of reading instruction, participants engaged in a series of workshops, delving into the key challenges of leading our reading programmes to ensure that we are providing the best possible experiences for our young people in terms of exposure and the quality of reading provision we offer.

BET Education Leader, Clare Goldsmith praised the value of the event, stating, 'I am delighted that we have days like this to come together. The Trust is rightly proud of the quality of reading leadership in our schools and opportunities such as this are a fantastic chance to develop our practice and look for further ways to support development.'

The BET Reads conference exemplifies the Trust’s ongoing commitment to fostering professional growth and collaboration. By providing educators with opportunities to reflect on and improve their practice, BET continues to ensure that every pupil has access to high-quality reading education, reinforcing its mission that every child deserves a great education.
