We are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Hilling as the new People Director at Bourne Education Trust. Emma brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to developing people and culture within educational settings, making her an exceptional addition to our team.

As the People Director, Emma will lead our people and culture strategy, which forms a key part of the Trust's strategic plan for 2023-26. She will oversee the development and delivery of initiatives to make the Trust an employer of choice nationally, regionally and locally, encompassing areas such as employee engagement, equality, diversity and inclusion and staff development.

In expressing her approach, Emma stated, "I am thrilled to take on this new role and contribute to shaping BET into an organisation where all stakeholders feel equally valued and heard. My experience has given me a strong foundation in HR practices, policy development and strategic planning. I look forward to championing career pathways and enabling initiatives that allow colleagues to explore different opportunities, ultimately adding value to our organisation and supporting our mission to transform schools and change lives."

Emma has been an integral part of BET for over a decade, joining Sythwood School in 2010 in HR administration and progressing to school business manager. She subsequently joined the BET central team as Trust Business Manager and most recently served as Head of HR. In this role, she has successfully implemented a full suite of HR policies and processes, managed complex casework and led initiatives such as the introduction of a new payroll system and a staff benefits & wellbeing scheme.

In welcoming Emma to her new role, Alex Russell, BET CEO, shared, "We are excited to appoint Emma as our new People Director. Her extensive experience within BET, her dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment and her strategic vision for people development align perfectly with our mission. I look forward to witnessing Emma’s future successes.”
